Norfolk Island, Australia

Norfolk Island’s history dates back to the 18th century and the legendary Captain Cook. However, its true lineage began a few decades later, following several attempted settlements, when natives of nearby Pitcairn Island and descendants of sailors from the “Mutiny on the Bounty” incident founded the village that became Norfolk. Unsurprisingly, history is abundant at the Norfolk Island Museum. Great examples of the island’s native forest and iconic pine trees are found within the Norfolk Island National Park. Additionally, the tree-lined cliffs and picturesque lagoons along the coast make a compelling case for Norfolk as a destination of unspoiled natural beauty.
