Tenerife, Canary Islands

A few years ago, Santa Cruz de Tenerife was named one of the top five best places to live, not just in the Canary Islands or Spain, but in the entire world. Before deciding to move, why not start with a visit? Must-see spots include the highest point in all Spanish territory — an inactive volcano at Las Canadas National Park that reaches 12,000 feet, Tenerife’s original capital city of La Laguna with its proud display of 17th-century architecture, and the village of Taganana, known for its local cheeses and wine. Alternatively, one might be more interested in the six mysterious ancient pyramids of Güímar or the Renaissance-era mansions of La Orotava. Either way, there is no wrong way to experience Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
